Roy Barnes took snark to the level of high art in that letter! As for the Fox interview, the more I see of Kamala Harris, the more impressed I am. If I ever needed an advocate to fight for me, she's the one I'd want to call.

Liz Gauffreau, Isn't THAT the case! YES!

I have followed your writings and bought one of your books (Haiku from the Place Just Right) and envy your life in beautiful NH and coastal Maine. I was born in NH, but we left when I was short of 6 years old in late 1953 to Long Beach, CA.

I love your writings and your poetry and photography. You are an artist.

It is these values which will carry us together.

Meanwhile, a little secret. I take a guilty pleasure in seeing Roy Barnes delicious wit, and the joyful warrior, Kamala Harris, our Future President, and how she frustrated the mischievous intent of Bret Baier -- SHE dominated the interview.

Thank you very much, Armande! I still believe deep down in my heart that the humanities have the potential to save us. (I apologize for missing your comment before.)

Liz Gauffreau: You NEVER have to apologize, as it is impossible to misunderstand a good person like you.

Your writings inspire me, and I am privileged to have developed friendships with you, Susan Niemann, Alicia Norman, CellyBlue, Diane K24, Ilona Goanos, and so many good, good people!

Holy Cow Armand! That Letter! That FOX INTERVIEW! The Fascist Information ! My head is spinning! Thank you for your time and passion on this serious moment in history as we all hold our breath to see if Americans can rid itself of the Maga disaster which has literally ripped our democracy threads into shreds for almost ONE FULL DECADE. I am going to take what you wrote in sections and digest because there is so much here. But that letter from the " simple country lawyer" to that moronic dangerous delusional congressman was sooooooo utterly delicious!!! DELICIOUS!!!

Thank you for your writing this and sharing. I truly appreciated it. Sincerely, Jennifer

Jennifer Keen: A shout out to your 'Stack. I love the profile. I LOVE kitties and am a favorite of affection-seeking dogs. Catwomen may push a cake in JD Vance's face. CATS RULE!

Ms. Jennifer Keen, remain strong in these times.

Kamala Harris has to win!

But irrespective of the outcome on November 5th, we still have Jim Crow in Texas, Alabama, Florida, and other places. We still need to fight for the healthcare of women and men, no matter who wins.

You are a friend, and as Joyce Vance points out, "We are in this together!"

I hope for you and your loved ones to stay healthy and strong. We WILL be faithful to one another.

You can probably tell my mood from these comments. Usually I am an optimistic, bubbly person, but the constant barrage of neo-Fascism is cacophonous.

Thank you so very much for your kind thoughts and your most welcome remarks.

I agree we could use a RESPONSIBLE Republican Party.

Anybody got any ideas on where we might find one? Because the current Republican Party is about as far as you can get from responsible.

Mommadillo: The core of the GOP is so radicalized that the former Establishment of the GOP has been overturned, and I look in vain to for any source for a responsible, future Wall-Street Conservative Party -- that respects liberal democracy and universal rights.

I don't see the numbers.

I see the tired and disconcerting right-wing as drunken with power within the former GOP, with no relief in sight.

Armand, thanks so much for addressing the disinformation that Fox produces every day. While to many of us the lies and half-truths are blatantly obvious, it baffles me how countless people fall for the myths, fearmongering and demonization.

I speak to this in my recent post which tells a story of how the American electorate can be easily misled. “Why are steering wheels square?” shares a Machiavellian influenced rich man’s confession about being a mastermind behind the dissemination of political misinformation.

Here is an excerpt from that post:

“I make them see what is not there, believe what is not true and act on my command. Up is down, right is wrong, truths are lies and lies are truth. I perpetuate myths, demonize truth tellers and provide false grievances. Blame “The Other” is my mantra. Hell, I could convince them that gravity is a hoax.”

You may find it interesting.

Thanks for all you do and for being a voice of reason.

Derrick Dark: I enjoyed reading your post:

An example is this.

Having been born in the late 1940s, I grew up in heavily industrialized Southern California throughout the 1950s.

My Dad was an executive in a Major AEROSPACE Company in LA County.

The workers were unionized.

The workers through unions had good pay and fringe benefits and a "defined pension plan" that gave security in retirement.

From the time of Ronald Reagan, the Republicans had killed unions.

And today "defined pension plans" are very hard to come by.

Here is an article:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2024/10/25/pensions-boeing/

By the way . . . The Aerospace Company my Dad helped head was Douglas Aircraft Company, that, two mergers later, is . . . Boeing.

In other words, the Aerospace had defined pension plans, LOST THEM due to Republican union-busting, and are NOW trying to go back . . . to the 1950s, when I grew up.

Your article is right on about the repeated lie after the principles of Machiavelli's "Prince."

Thank you for pointing me to your excellent article, linked above.

Thank you so much for sharing!

Vice President Harris to MAGA hecklers: “Oh you guys are at the wrong rally. I think you meant to go to the smaller one down the street”

There was rich laughter during the exchange!

Thank you Armando. The amount of information in your post is awe inspiring.

Bret Baier is an unmitigated ass. He must be getting paid a huge amount of money to think he can brow beat a sitting Vice President and avoid the issues surrounding immigration. It was clear from the beginning that he had no intention of letting VP Harris answer a question. VP Harris was not there to be interviewed, she was there to be verbally assaulted and intellectually raped.

So much for FoxNews having a respected anchor.

I have yet to see a single journalist on a FoxNews show.

David Grenier: Bret Baier was a major disappointment.

Prior to the event, I was glad Future President Kamala Harris was being interviewed by Bret Baier, because of the demeanor I had seen from him on regular, weekly news. Yes, there was a Conservative slant, but I was OK with that.

But NO MORE.

Whew!

I am THROUGH, so THROUGH with Bret Baier.

I was very encouraged by the strength shown by our Joyful Warrior. I think Kamala Harris SMASHED Mr. Baier.

Sorry Mr. Baier, you lost my respect yesterday. I really, really regret that occurred, because I had thought better of Mr. Baier than that. A major, deep disappointment in Mr. Baier.

First, you rock! Secondly thanks for knitting together so many truth bombs in your newsletter. Our vice president is mighty and I so look forward to the day she is sworn in. Unfortunately he and they will not go quietly into the night but will shriek, curse, and gnash their teeth for a period that has already been too long. I will educate my grandkids on how the US almost lost our democracy. Keep fighting the good fight!

We are in this TOGETHER and for the long haul, and not merely during election standards.
