Make no mistake: There is no substitute for Victory!

Diversity in the State Judiciary; and,
Fight Against Gun Violence.
Public Safety and the Public Peace;
I feel these are core values that our Governors support.
We have strong, national leaders of the Quality of the Honorable Kathy Hochul (NY), Gretchen Whitmer (MI), Muriel Bowser (Washington, DC), Maura Healy (MA), Katie Hobbs (AZ), Laura Kelly (KS), Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM), Tina Kotek (OR), JB Pritzger (IL), Roy Cooper (NC), and, not least, Andy Beshear (KY).
Notice: Even among the few I named, We have solid Governors in Red States!
We don’t yet know what will occur in November, but we must build for victory at the city, county, and state level.
The Republicans are now very anti-Democratic, but they obtained dominance at the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Federal Courts through grassroot and Democratic means: They ran ideologues in obscure races — in the city, the county, the state, until the Republican infrastructure was strong and hard to resist.
That precinct-level work was organized by Fundamentalist religious-zealots who wanted to impose their values on Society, until ultimately they now control many state legislatures.
They also promoted organizations like The Federalist Society. The Society not only influences, it hosts seminars for Judges with themes of Conservative jurisprudence.
And, the Conservatives acted against Justice Clarence Thomas’ wish to retire, complaining that his $300,000.00 annual income could not support Ginni’s lifestyle of influence. So, courtesy of the Federals, wealthy influencers with their yachts and resorts came helpfully along.
And with the Honorable Senate Lifer, Mitch McConnell, the GOP blocked Democratic judicial appointees, and massively seated the Bench with Federals.
It used to be that the American Bar Association was the main voice on peopling the Judiciary.
Now that role has been usurped with litmus tests through the Federals.
Republicans never lost sight of, but had a passion for the footwork that led to the erection of a strong party infrastructure for their Party from the precinct level all the way to the top.
Republicans ran in state election for judicial office on racist and dangerous, unjudicial platforms of “Anti-Crime” and “Law-and-Order”.
In North Carolina — which now has a Democratic Governor! — the embarrassing Jesse Helms (remember Helms lecturing the UN?! — YUCK!) ran one his re-election races for U.S. Senate with a highly racist add. It showed a white boss extend his hand towards a depicted new, Black employee, with the racist rant: You NEEDED that Job! — An unmistakable rant against affirmative action with the racist term: “racial quotas.”
And it has only got worse after the time of the late, Honorable Jesse Helms.
How bad is it with the Republicans.
Just yesterday,
Voters removed Sens. Sandy Senn, Penry Gustafson and Katrina Shealy from office during sparsely turned out primaries in June, and by doing so completely vacated the Republican wing of the five-member “Sister Senators," a female contingent that included two Democrats and was joined in their opposition to the abortion ban.
Why?!
Because, though the three Republicans are largely Anti-Abortion, they would plead for victims of incest, minors who were sexually abused by trusted family members, and the like.
Yes, advocacy for little girls who suffered abuse is enough to eliminate Katrina Shealy from office, even though she supported, with exceptions, a 12-week abortion ban. The Honorable Katrina Shealy was not radical enough.
And emboldened by a Supreme Court that immunizes the Presidency, Trump now posts medial rants about trying Liz Cheney for treason by a military tribunal. That media rant screams its headlines.
(I will not dignify Trump by posting any picture of that rant.)
Look: Our leader failed us last Thursday, and I am angry at Joe Biden. Then Joe Biden performed a great show the next day at a political rally.
But Joe Biden is our Advocate.
How would you feel if:
You are on trial, sweating about how it will look to the jury with closing argument.
The Prosecutor speaks first, because she has the burden of proof.
Inside, you rage, because the Prosecutor succinctly and distinctly speaks to the jury but tells outright lies about you to the jury. Neither the judge nor your counsel object!
Now it is your Counsel’s turn.
You rub your hands, warming to hearing a voice advocate with verve and conviction for the truth.
But YOUR COUNSEL faulters and stumbles and looks embarrassed like an embarrassed child.
Meanwhile, the Prosecutor gives a stirring rebuttal, full of lies and vituperation.
Jury convicts.
Next day, awaiting sentencing, you see your Defense Counsel running for mayor, and he speaks fluidly and with great humor at the crowd cheering him on in the mayoral race.
I trust this example is vivid enough for you to see why I am angry at Joe Biden.
Does Joe Biden know and believe that Trump is a deadly danger to our Democracy, now unleashed with unheard of Immunity for CRIMINALITY as emboldened by our Supreme Court?!
Well, Does Joe Biden see or appreciate this or not?
Does he really?!
Because a Joe Biden who believes in his heart and sees with his eyes would have smashed Trump at the Debate.
Any of our Democratic Governors could have smashed Trump in the Debate.
Vice President Kamala Harris would have smashed Trump in the Debate.
Joe Biden can, indeed, smash Trump in the Debate.
And I am fighting mad that Biden did not do that.
Oh, but Biden had a rigorous travel schedule.
Whose fault is that.
Biden has a responsibility toward us.
It is up to Biden to ensure that he is best when his advocacy is called for so that millions of people can see at once that there is hope for Democracy, there is hope for Diversity, there is hope for Civil Rights, there is hope for Human Rights, there is hope for Israel, there is hope for humanity and a peaceful solution in Gaza, there is hope to win the War for victims of Russia’s terrible war crimes in Ukraine, there is hope for a clean and sustainable environment, there is a hope for the rights of women and girls.
Biden needs to look at women and girls in the eye and take his responsibility to win.
The Dangers of a Despotic, Immunized (Thank you Chief Justice Roberts) Trump are too costly to afford the luxury of, yawn, yawn, cough, cough, needing to be in bed instead of debate.
During World War II, Winston Churchill was exhausted, needed naps, smoked cigars like a fiend, drank heavy doses of whiskey, and had dark, dark ruminating obsessions that plagued him.
But every radio address was full of the life’s blood of the most powerful rhetorical tool in the world: The English Language in the Heritage of Christopher Marlowe and Wm Shakespeare.
And the British have the tradition of Prime Minister’s Hour. That meant that Winston Churchill appeared every Friday night before Parliament, and jumped eagerly to his feet to put down scoffing, sarcasm, parody and laughter or outrage from Labour. Churchill would jump right up to the microphone and instantly answer his detractors.
That is the standard we have a right to expect from our Leaders.
So, yes. I support Biden/Harris.
But Biden has to start like he believes in the message and wants to win.
Because we must win.
And I will do my part, no matter what, no matter who.
Joe Biden called for the Debate and it was in the format that Joe Biden called for.
I support the Biden/Harris ticket with no reservations. I support them and will work within my spheres of influence for the reelection of Biden/Harris.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris MUST WIN this election, our Democracy is temporarily at stake.
Temporarily?
I believe we will retain the forms of the Current Republic, but I believe Jim Crow, alive and well now — Jim Crow may have changed stripes here and there, but Jim Crow has always, through today, existed.
I believe the forces of right will again assemble and raise our Country back to the values of Civil Rights.
But the current Presidential Candidate does not grit his teeth to win.
I vigorously support Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
I do not know who would replace them.
If the Democrats choose a replacement, I will support that ticket.
I support any ticket over the GOP racist, neo-fascist agenda.
You and I have a right that Joe Biden lead us to victory.
I support him irrespective.
But the Democratic Party cannot ever again fail and it must show vigor to bring down and humiliate neo-fascists, for:
There is no substitute for Victory!*

* Words of General Douglas MacArthur, that this 76-year-old heard. NB: Armando disagrees with everything about General MacArthur. But, oh, what an orator!
Why don't you show a little loyalty and have Joe's back...

Well said, Armando. The debate was disappointing but there is no alternative but stay the course . We have a lot of work ahead which we Boomers have the time and resources to do and support.
